Default GS1000 tyre choice.

Advice please, personal experience required on tyre preference with regard to handling.I bought the machine a year ago, got rid of the old Dunlops and fitted Avon Roadriders. The bike seems less stable than my old GS,s but I've been out of biking for 30 years and I know it's not a case of nostalgia getting the better of me.The wheels are in line, the frame has been checked geometry wise, new wheel and steering head bearings, everything as it should be,but I'm still experiencing weaving on white lines, high speed instability and a vague feeling that I'm not 100 % in control.Thoughts please?

It is very unlikely you will get a tyre that will stop weaving over white lines

High speed instability was always aproblem of 1970/80s bikes

You dont mention swinging arm checks

You may want to try adjusting tyre pressures up and down from book pressures

I've got a BT45 on the front and a Roadrider on the rear of my GS at 30lb front and 34lb rear and found that its as good as it gets-slight wobble over the white lines but not a problem.
I took my mate's advice on slightly increasing the pressure and it works well-he did it on his kettle and noticed a big difference.
I like the feel of the roadrider-better than the Metzeller it replaced.
