Lee I suppose the obvious answer is to keep them matched. But I have seen a post recently that with all tyres being radials it is not a problem, especially when you consider we are not or should not be near to the limit of adhesion.
I recently ran an Avon on the front of my Bandit as I wanted to get more miles on the rear Bridgestone before I fitted the rear Avon. There was no problems at all.

Personally, I'd go for Bridgestone 021's, but I have to admit that there are as many opinions as there are people.

Use a bike tyre fitter, not National Tyres please.

Sorry Martin but in the case of National Tyres in Barnsley, they are the best in the area for bike tyres.
More or less every one of them there is into bikes and I'd seriously bet that they do more bikes than cars. I even go there myself and can't say I fault them in any way. Personally Lee, I'd go for Road Smarts. Had them on my Fazer and they were fantastic in both wet and dry. I've had them on the GSXR and again, fantastic. I toured Scotland last year with Ian and he will vouch that those tyres never let me down to the point I was chasing well known fast cars in torrential conditions as we rode between Fort William and Skye. I love them I do but then tyres are all in the head anyway.

Just before easter i had fitted Bridgestone 023's which are the 021 replacement's on my bandit 6 and i am very very pleased with them.
You pays you money and takes your choice.

I wouldnt mix lee, i had an avon on the front and michelin on the rear and no end of handling problems, the rear was forever slipping out, was caused by the different compounds, (made the front tyre wear very strange)
ended up in one or two hedges an all due to the rear slipping and me standing the bike up and hittin the brakes, happened wet or dry. since had a set of Dunlop Roadsmarts and ive done bout 3.5k on them and cant fault them at all, built my confidence back up again, in the wet and dry.

Road pilot 2, definately better on my bandit 650 than the BT-20's it came on. The Michilins are more agile, quicker to steer. I think the most common choices are Road Pilot 2, BT21/23 and Roadsmarts.

If your happy with the sportsmax`s lee, stk with them, if you want a tyre with doing some upright miles on and one to reduce the flat spot then throw a sportsmax roadsmart on the rear.
